S. Boussetta, from ECMWF, presented a study exploring the potential use of satellite-derived vegetation products within an Numerical Weather Prediction framework. He demonstrated that taking into account realistic vegetation dynamics, like provided by the Near Real Time LAI and Albedo disseminated by the Copernicus Global Land service, is important for accurate representation of surface fluxes and, eventually, better atmospheric predictability.
His presentation is available here.
