Apr 30 2015ImagineS at EGU 2015
The recent results of the ImagineS project were presented at the EGU General Assembly 2015 that took place in Vienna, Austria, from 12th to 17th April 2015, in the Biogeoscience session on "Earth observation for monitoring and modeling the global energy, water and carbon cycles over land using model-data integration".
Fernando Camacho, from EOLAB, described the methodology applied to assess the quality of the biophysical products (LAI, FAPAR, FCover, Albedo) of Copernicus Global Land Service. In particular, he showed how the ground data collected during field campaigns conducted in ImagineS are processed and exploited to quantify the accuracy of the Global Land products. His talk was complemented by a poster detailing the in-situ measurements protocol, the upscaling approach and the resulting database of high resolution maps which are available here.
Souhail Boussetta, from ECMWF, presented the impact of the assimilation of vegetation cover on the surface energy and carbon fluxes. He showed that accounting for the variability of vegetation cover has an overall positive impact on forecast weather parameters. His presentation is here.
